Casa di Aonio Paleario – Colle di Val d’Elsa

In the historic centre of Colle di Val d’Elsa, along the ancient route of the Via Francigena, stands the late-medieval palazzo that was once the home of Aonio Paleario, a humanist and theologian and one of the best-known figures of the Italian Renaissance. Carefully restored, the building retains its original character – exposed wooden beams, terracotta floors and local stone – seamlessly combined with the comforts of a modern stay.

Inside, four independent apartments are named after leading figures from Tuscan art and history, each offering a different way to experience Colle. Cennini and Campana, both accommodating up to 8 guests, are ideal for large families or groups of friends looking to share generous living spaces. The former is bright and airy, extending over 62 square metres, while the latter boasts views stretching across the hills of the tuscan countryside. Scala, sleeping up to 4 guests, offers some of the most evocative evenings, with its direct view of the Church of Santa Caterina. Arnolfo di Cambio, the most intimate of the four, accommodates up to 3 guests seeking a simple yet thoughtfully designed stay in the heart of the old town.

Artisan workshops, traditional restaurants, the church and the Civic Museum are all just a few steps away, as are the walking trails and picturesque villages scattered along the Sienese stretch of the Via Francigena. An authentic base from which to discover the Chianti and Valdelsa regions, whether you are looking for a romantic getaway, a family holiday or a stay with friends.
