The first excavations date back to the nineteenth century, later more accurate research from 1972 and 2010 led to the discovery of 56 tombs distributed over a period of time between the middle of the sixth century B.C. and the first years of the second century A.D.<\/p>\n
The types of tombs range from noble with complex-plan rooms to more modest structures.<\/p>\n
Most of the artifacts found are kept in the “Ranuccio Bianchi Bandinelli” Archaeological Museum in Colle di Val d\u2019Elsa and in the National Archaeological Museum of Siena (Chigi Zondadari Collection).<\/p>\n
